The Skatium is the Skokie Park District’s ice arena on Weber Park Place, and one of the north suburbs’ long-running rinks: the park district likes to say you can still hear the echoes of Scott Hamilton, Denis Savard, Evan Lysacek, Sasha Cohen and Stan Mikita on its ice. Today it runs public skating, a figure skating school, hockey and an annual ice show.
Skate sharpening is one of the arena’s listed features, so skaters can have a pair done in the building rather than making a separate trip. Ask at the office how the service works before a session, especially with figure blades.
Offensive Zone’s counter at American Heartland Ice Arena in Lincolnwood and Gunzo’s in Morton Grove are both under three miles away if you need gear or a second opinion.
