What this place is
The City of Birmingham’s ice arena, which sharpens skates at a posted per-pair fee.
Skate sharpening at Birmingham Ice Sports Arena
Birmingham Ice Sports Arena is the City of Birmingham’s rink on East Lincoln, and its city page lists skate sharpening among its fees, alongside skate rental and admission. It is a local rink rather than a shop, used for open skating, learn-to-skate lessons, freestyle ice and high school teams.
For families already at a public session or a lesson, it is the simplest way to get an edge back on a pair without a separate trip. The arena is also home to a combined Seaholm and Groves high school figure skating team.
Hockey players who want profiling or a choice of hollow have Pure Hockey and B&R Sports a few miles away in Troy and Bloomfield Hills, and figure skaters have the Detroit Skating Club’s specialists about seven miles north. Ask at the rink office about sharpening before a session.
Not stated: hockey, goalie, figure, speed / long-track, recreational & rental.
