What this place is
A figure skate shop for fitting, sharpening and blade mounting, by appointment.
Podium Skates
Podium Skates is a figure skating shop on Ford Road in Garden City, sharing a building with an eyewear store. Its own page describes a plain, service-first shop where skaters of every level, from beginners to Olympians, are fitted on a raised platform and measured standing and seated.
Sharpening and fitting are by appointment. The shop calculates a hollow for each skater or uses the skater’s own preference, and it also offers flat bottom groove sharpening for more speed and flow. Boots and blades are suggested from the skater’s level, foot shape and coach’s advice, and the shop mounts blades only on boots it fitted itself.
Its page mentions three Golden Retrievers who greet visitors, with a back room for them if a skater prefers. Garden City Civic Arena is under two miles away and Mike Modano Ice Arena in Westland about three.
Not stated: hockey, goalie, figure, speed / long-track, recreational & rental.
