Kőbánya's tent-covered rink opened on 31 October 2012 and gives about 600 local children free lessons a week
The Kőbányai Jégpálya, called the Cápa rink after its home club, the White Sharks Hockey Club, opened on 31 October 2012. The Kőbánya district council, the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation and the club built it together. It lies under an 800 square metre tent with 450 square metres of ice.
It runs as an ice rink from October to April and as a multi-purpose court for roller skating and roller hockey from April to October, thanks to a special floor that allows year-round use. Benches and a stand were added after the opening.
On weekday mornings the club teaches district schoolchildren and kindergarten groups to skate free of charge, about 600 children a week, and thousands have first skated here. The club also takes children aged 4 to 14 into its hockey team with no skating experience required.
