Gmunden's ice hall with summer ice since 2000
The Muki-Eisarena is the Gmunden ice hall, built with modern flexible boards and nine dressing rooms, and open for most of the year. Since 2000 it has also been an international centre for ambitious ice athletes in summer: the summer-ice operation, known beyond Austria's borders, lets skaters prepare for the winter competition season in a scenic, restful setting. In summer the hall is generally open every day from 08:00 to 18:00, with lunch at the hall's buffet.
The Eislaufverein Gmunden, the town's figure skating club, has run five weeks of summer training in the hall for 26 summers, and the hall is the home of the ice hockey club Traunseesharks Gmunden. Ice-stock shooting rounds off the sports programme. In winter, besides training and competition for the clubs, the hall is given over to public skating and school skating.
