A club-built stadium from 1970, finished with leftovers from Munich's Olympic Stadium
Before Grafing had artificial ice, the EHC Klostersee played on the Seeschneid and the Klostersee itself. The club then built its stadium almost entirely on its own: its president, Dr. Kaefer, was a building contractor, and many first-team players were architects, engineers and electricians. Donations, collections and negotiations with the district administration paid for it, and the club received free standing-terrace parts, floodlight masts and other material left over from the building of Munich's Olympic Stadium.
Work began on 1 June 1970, and the stadium was handed over on 15 September 1970 with a friendly against HC Slovan Bratislava. Over the years almost 50 foreign clubs played here, along with the Chinese and Romanian national teams. The roof was completed in the mid-1980s, just as the club rose to the 2. Bundesliga.
Today the Eissporthalle Grafing holds 1,730 spectators, 175 of them seated, and the EHC Klostersee still plays here. The club has been promoted to the 2. Bundesliga three times (1985, 1990 and 1994) and was Bavarian champion in 2022.
