The Patinoire Jean Tinguely at Route de Corbaroche 54 in Marly was put into service in the winter of 1994. It is named after the Fribourg artist Jean Tinguely, and the rink says a contract from his wife, the artist Niki de Saint Phalle, gives it the right to use his name for the building and for its hockey club. Its own site calls it the only private rink in Switzerland and the canton's second, after the one now called BCF Arena in Fribourg.
Run by Pro Hockey SA as a small family business whose team, it says, has been loyal for more than 25 years, the rink gave the canton's junior hockey a springboard and hosts the international Mémorial Jean Tinguely youth tournament between Christmas and New Year. At public sessions the ice is divided in two: one half for skating, where sticks and pucks are strictly forbidden, and one for hockey, while the rink's café looks over the ice from five metres away.
Since 2012 the bare floor in summer has also served as an exam hall for trainee logisticians.
