Home of the Thetford Assurancia

The Centre Mario-Gosselin in Thetford Mines was built in 1964 and holds 2,500 people. With those 2,500 seats, it is the largest arena in the Thetford area. It was first called the Centre des Loisirs and was renamed in the mid-1980s for NHL and Team Canada goalie Mario Gosselin. Gosselin was born in Thetford Mines and helped Canada finish fourth at the 1984 Winter Olympics. The building was refreshed in 2007, above all with work on the ice surface. In 2024, it was announced that the centre would undergo an extensive renovation.

The arena is home to the Thetford Assurancia of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey. The club was founded in the fall of 1996 as the Coyotes. It then played as the Thetford Mines Coyotes until 2000 and as the Thetford Mines Prolab from 2000 to 2007. In 2007 it was renamed the Thetford Mines Isothermic after its sponsor, a local door and window seller. A new sponsor in 2015 gave it the Assurancia name. It is the last remaining original franchise of the league in its original city.

The team has reached the league finals six times. On May 11, 2012, in the second overtime of game six, Sébastien Courcelles gave the club its first cup, in its sixteenth season in the league.
