Caledonia arena, home of the Corvairs, Sutherland Cup champions from 2014 to 2016
The Haldimand County Caledonia Centre is home to the Caledonia Corvairs of the Greater Ontario Hockey League. The Corvairs arrived on May 23, 2012, when the Brantford Eagles moved to Caledonia and took the name of the town's long-running Junior C team. The Eagles had been one of the most dominant Junior B teams for four seasons but lacked crowd support. After finishing first in the Mid-Western Conference in 2012-13, the Corvairs asked to move to the Golden Horseshoe Conference to play teams closer to home.
The Corvairs won the Sutherland Cup from 2014 to 2016. The team sat out the 2018-19 season and returned for 2019-20 with an entirely new group of players. The franchise traces its roots to a Brantford team founded in 1970, which played as the Brantford Penguins when it joined the Southwestern Junior B Hockey League in 1976. In 1984 that team, then the Brantford Alexander B's, were Golden Horseshoe champions.
