Rebuilt in 2013 on the site of Streatham's 1931 ice arena

There has been an ice rink on this site in Streatham since 26 February 1931, when the Streatham Ice Arena opened in a building by cinema architect Robert Cromie. Its ice measured 210 by 100 feet, larger than today's international standard, and 3,000 people came to the opening. Three of today's compulsory ice dances were first performed here in 1934, and Olympic figure skating champion Jeanette Altwegg trained at the rink for five years in the 1950s.

The arena was used for food storage during the Second World War and was taken over by Mecca as a Silver Blades rink in 1962. The Streatham Redskins, now the Redhawks, played hockey in the old building. It closed on 18 December 2011 and was demolished. The Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre replaced it, opening to the public on 18 November 2013.

The rink today is an Olympic-size 60 by 30 metre sheet with room for over 900 spectators. Streatham IHC and the Streatham Storm are based on this ice, and the centre runs weekly ice dance and figure skating clubs for experienced skaters.
