IJsclub Ons Genoegen began unofficially in the winter of 1956, when three men took the initiative to organise skating races for the children of the Spreeuwenhoek and Lageweg. On 22 February 1956 a new ice club was founded in the northern part of the municipality with 150 members at the start, and the chairman settled on the name Ons Genoegen the next day. Its first rink was the pit behind the former brickworks De Schans, about 150 metres long.
On 11 February 1959 the mayor opened the field rink at the IJssellaan by cutting a ribbon. A bazaar in 1959 and another three years later raised more than 13,000 guilders towards a clubhouse, and in 1973 the club bought the land and built a new clubhouse.
On 30 November 1993 the club held its first marathon race, over 75 laps. A text from the club's fiftieth anniversary calls the skating facility in the Spreeuwenhoek, with its 400-metre track, a unique project in the Krimpenerwaard.

A family membership costs €10 a year if you join while the rink is closed and €20 if you join while it is open; people living outside the municipality can buy a day ticket for €5 when there is ice, and children up to 6 get in free. · In het Engels
