Primo X Hockey is a small, family-owned hockey shop in a business park off Diggs Drive, just south-west of downtown Raleigh. The owners describe it as a shop that tries to cover what a big-box store would while keeping the service of a small business, and it also sells online with free shipping inside the United States.
For most local skaters the reason to stop by is the sharpening counter. The Sparx machine takes walk-ins with no appointment, so you can bring skates in on the way to practice without booking ahead. Hand sharpening on the Blademaster is a drop-off service, and the shop also bakes new skates.
If practice runs late, the shop says you can text or call and it will try to work around your schedule. Polar Ice Cary and Polar Ice Garner are each about five miles away, and Polar Ice Raleigh is a little farther, so the shop sits in the middle of the city’s public rinks.
