Coach’s Corner

Skate sharpening

Coach’s Corner storefront
The Coach’s Corner storefront in the Harvester Road plaza, with its sign and a promise of perfectly sharpened skates.

Coach’s Corner is a sharpening and repair counter in an east Burlington industrial plaza, set up for the hockey families who fill the city’s arenas through the winter. Its sharpening and profiling run on the Maximum Edge system, a machine and profile family used by many professional teams, and the staff work out a profile with each skater based on size and level rather than handing out one standard shape.

It is also a practical place to trade up: the shop buys and sells used hockey and figure skates, and it takes in goalie gear, gloves and broken composite sticks on behalf of two specialist repairers, so one stop can cover a whole bag of problems.

Appleby Ice Centre is less than 2 km away and Mainway Ice Centre is just beyond it, so the shop sits between two of Burlington’s indoor arenas.

Sharpens: profiling / contouring. Not stated: hockey, goalie, figure, speed / long-track, recreational & rental.
