Skatescribe (Markham)

CNC blade sharpening and profiling

Skatescribe (Markham): inside the store
The CNC machine that cuts the blades at Skatescribe’s Markham location.

Skatescribe replaced the grinding wheel with a laser scanner and a CNC machine: your hockey blade is scanned, then sharpened and profiled in one pass to the hollow, profile and pitch you choose. Its Markham location, at the back of a building on Telson Road, is one of the company’s own counters; other counters around Ontario are run by licensed shops.

The service is built for players on modern quick-release holders. You pop the steel out, bring only the blades, and either wait a few minutes at the counter or leave them in the drop-off box with your name and settings. Because the machine stores your cut digitally, a second or third set of steel can be made to match, which is why it appeals to players who carry spares.

R.J. Clatworthy Arena is about 2.5 km away and Milliken Mills Community Centre is a little further east.

Sharpens: hockey, goalie, profiling / contouring. Not stated: figure, speed / long-track, recreational & rental.
