A team-sports store in Whitby, part of the Team Town Sports chain, with a skate service counter.
Team Town Sports Whitby
Team Town Sports is a chain of stadium-themed team-sports stores, and its store in east Whitby, just south of the 401, gives Durham hockey families a large store with a skate service counter. That counter can also custom-mould a skate boot to the foot, which matters most for players with wide or awkward feet.
It also steams gloves and presses NHL and MLB crests onto jerseys, so it is as much a stop for a team’s season kit as for a quick edge before a game. If you are buying new skates, have the boot fitted and the first sharpening done in the same visit, before the first practice, rather than discovering a pressure point on the ice.
Canlan Sports Oshawa is about 2 km away, and Iroquois Park Sports Centre in Whitby is a few minutes further west.
Sharpens: profiling / contouring. Not stated: hockey, goalie, figure, speed / long-track, recreational & rental.
Fitting & heat molding
Custom skate moulding: punching, stretching and heating.
