Plano's two-sheet StarCenter, opened 1999
The Plano StarCenter opened in 1999. The 120,000-square-foot complex has two full-size NHL ice surfaces and was completely renovated in 2012. It sits on a three-acre plot of land. In 2014 the building was also home to Severyn Sports, a training centre owned by former NHL player Brent Severyn.
In August 2014 Northland Properties, the Dallas Stars' parent company, announced it was buying the Plano rink. The Plano rink was then one of six Dr Pepper StarCenters in the Metroplex, alongside Euless, Farmers Branch, Frisco, McKinney and Valley Ranch. In 2021 the Plano rink and Comerica Center hosted the IIHF U18 World Championships. The tournament ran from April 26 to May 6, 2021, in Frisco and Plano. Today it is one of the Dallas Stars' Children's Health StarCenters, the team's network of family skating rinks. The Stars own and operate nine ice facilities across the Dallas area.
