Town arena in the Killam Agriplex, home of the Jr. B Wheat Kings, with free public skating
The Town of Killam calls the Poplar Grove Farms Killam Memorial Arena an important source of recreation for the community. The artificial ice is in from September to March, for minor hockey, Jr. B hockey, hockey clinics, power skating, school classes and public skating and shinny, which local sponsors keep free. From April to August the floor hosts the annual indoor rodeo, the 4-H Beef Show and Sale, trade fairs and community sales.
The Battle River Knights minor hockey association runs teams from U6 to U18, including a female division, and men's and women's recreational teams play here too. The Killam Jr. B Wheat Kings, the regional Junior B team, draw players from across the area. The arena has also hosted hockey camps, officiating clinics and exhibition games such as the CFCW Critters fundraisers and the Calgary Hitmen and Edmonton Ice teams, and minor hockey hosts tournaments and provincial playoffs.
