Aylmer and Malahide's shared arena since 2004

The East Elgin Community Complex is a joint partnership between the Township of Malahide and the Town of Aylmer. Since opening in May 2004, it has served as a regional hub for recreation and community events. Both councils have since put significant capital into the building, including a new roof, HVAC systems and upgraded change rooms. In June 2025 the province committed funding towards repairing and replacing the roof, HVAC and refrigeration systems. In August 2026 the two municipalities announced a new operating agreement for the complex. Its implementation is expected to continue into early 2027.

The complex is home to the Aylmer Spitfires of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. The franchise began in Tillsonburg as a Junior B team in 1974, first as the Mavericks and then as the Titans from 1985 to 1991. It moved to Aylmer in 1991 as the Aylmer Aces and dropped to Junior C as the Aylmer Spitfires in 2003. The 2019-20 playoffs were cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so the team could not play a single playoff game.
