Home ice of the Listowel Cyclones since 2017
The Steve Kerr Memorial Complex is home to the Listowel Cyclones of the Greater Ontario Hockey League. The Cyclones began the 2017-18 season at the Listowel Memorial Arena and played their first game in the new complex on December 9, 2017. They beat the Stratford Warriors 7-2 in front of 1,503 fans, and Jakob Lee scored the first goal in the building at 5:18 of the first period. That season the team set its franchise record of 42 wins.
The club is named after local professional hockey player Fred "Cyclone" Taylor. Founded in 1972 in the Central Junior C Hockey League, it moved up to Midwestern Junior B in 1979. In 2005 the Cyclones won their first league title as the seventh seed, the lowest entry seed ever to win the championship. They won the Cherrey Cup again on April 9, 2017, the franchise's second after 2004-05. On April 4, 2018, they defended it with a sweep of the Elmira Sugar Kings for their third.
