Strathroy's arena since 1953

The West Middlesex Memorial Centre opened in 1953 and was renovated in 2011. Its ice surface measures 75 by 180 feet. It is home to the Strathroy Rockets of the Greater Ontario Hockey League, founded in 1965. The Rockets joined the old Western Junior B league in 1965 and, after spells in other leagues, ceased operations in 1972. The Falcons replaced them, became the Blades in 1975 and the Rockets again in 1994.

The Rockets won the WOJHL title in 2006-07, beating the Sarnia Blast in seven games, then lost the Sutherland Cup final to the Cambridge Winterhawks. The team was bought by former NHL player Cory Conacher, who named Andrew Ferlatte general manager on June 1, 2024, the club's first appointed general manager of the modern era under private ownership. On December 13, 2025, the Rockets unveiled a new look in the GOHL's spotlight game against the Sarnia Legionnaires.
