Maple's 1974 arena

The arena at Maple was built in 1974, and the library and community centre followed in 1991. An expansion completed in 2004 added fitness rooms, activity rooms and an art space. At about 148,000 square feet, it is the city's largest community centre. Besides the arena, it has a pool, fitness areas, a gymnasium, bocce courts, game rooms and a bowling alley. The ice is on the lower level, with four change rooms.

A 2017 building conditions assessment recommended state-of-good-repair upgrades, and the age of the facility also called for modernization, better layouts, and sustainability, accessibility and energy improvements. The library was reimagined as a bright and accessible branch. The project received more than $9 million through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. The fully revitalized centre celebrated its official reopening in April 2022.
