Mountainside Park's arena since 1974
Mountainside Arena and its neighbouring pool have served Burlington since 1974. The age of the facility called for a comprehensive expansion and renovation to bring it up to current standards. Work started in 2011, and the building was ready for occupancy in December 2014. The project, for the City of Burlington, covers about 40,000 square feet.
The arena and the pool, once separate buildings, were joined by a new link with a main entrance, lobby, offices, concession, two community rooms, washrooms and a heated arena viewing area. The arena itself was completely renovated, with a new refrigeration system, slab and dasher boards. It is still a single-pad arena, and the work also gave it new dressing rooms. The ice measures 175 by 75 feet, with seating for 180.
Mountainside is one of the venues of the Burlington Eagles city rep hockey club. The Burlington Barracudas girls' hockey club also lists it among its venues.
