The Uxbridge Arena and Community Centre was built in 1978, and a second pad was added in 1997. With its two ice pads, it hosts a variety of hockey and skating clubs and programs through the winter. In summer the building is used for lacrosse, ball hockey, pickleball and community events. Over the years the grounds around it have gained a lawn bowling club, the Bonner Boys splash pad, tennis courts and a baseball diamond. The arena is home to North Durham Minor Hockey and the Uxbridge Bruins.
The Bruins joined the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League in 1975. In 1990-91 they won their first regular-season crown and then their first league championship. In 2001-02 they again won both the regular-season crown and the league championship. That run took them to the Clarence Schmalz Cup final, where they lost Game 7 to the Essex 73's, 2-1. Since 2016-17 their league has been the Orr Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
